Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan (DMUM) raises funds and awareness for pediatric rehabilitation programs at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor and Beaumont Children’s in Royal Oak, MI. DMUM is the largest student-run non-profit organization in Michigan and I’m so happy to be a part of this organization! The wonderful therapies we sponsor offer children the unique opportunity to participate in activities that allow them to just be kids. The therapies include tree climbing, swimming, martial arts, dancing, bowling, creative coping, and so many more.
My favorite DMUM memory this year was going to the tree climbing therapy, where I got to spend the afternoon up in the trees with the kids. For many of them, it was the first time they had ever been able to climb a tree. Seeing how excited they were to experience this first, and just be a kid for the day, showed me how important these therapies really are.
On March 25th, 2017 I will be standing on my feet for 24 consecutive hours with over 1,000 of my fellow students and friends to support the children and families who benefit directly from the programs we raise money for! Please consider helping me to reach my goal of $2,000 for the kids.
