My name is Lydia Essenmacher and this is my fourth year in Dance Marathon. This year I am a Family Relations Coordinator and I am so excited to be creating connections between our great families and dancers!
Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan (DMUM) raises funds and awareness for pediatric rehabilitation programs at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor and Beaumont Children’s in Royal Oak, MI. Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan is the largest student-run non-profit organization in Michigan and I’m ecstatic to be a part of this organization! The wonderful therapies we sponsor offer children the unique opportunity to participate in activities that allow them to just be kids. The therapies include tree climbing, swimming, martial arts, dancing, bowling, creative coping, and many more.
I have made so many great memories Dance Marathon. I remember the feeling of accomplishment after finishing my first VictorThon. I loved being a Dance Captain and helping my dancers fall in love with DMUM. My favorite event of the year is Pumpkin Carving because it's so great to see new families and dancers begin their DMUM experience.
On March 25th, 2016 I will be standing on my feet for 24 consecutive hours with over 1,000 of my fellow students and friends to support the children and families who benefit directly from the programs we raise money for! Please consider helping me to reach my goal of $500 for the kids!
