Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan (DMUM) raises funds and awareness for pediatric rehabilitation programs at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor and Beaumont Children’s in Royal Oak, MI. Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan is the largest student-run non-profit organization in Michigan and I’m ecstatic to be a part of this organization! The wonderful therapies we sponsor offer children the unique opportunity to participate in activities that allow them to just be kids. The therapies include tree climbing, swimming, martial arts, dancing, bowling, creative coping, and many more.
My personal favorite memory is going to my very first DMUM charity ball and dancing with Emily, a wonderful enthusiastic girl benefitting from Beaumont's therapies. She is in a wheelchair, so other members of my sorority and myself grabbed her hands and wheeled her around, and we just danced the night away. At a certain point, she wanted to climb down, so we all crouched down on the ground with her and kept dancing on our knees! She's such a loving, confident, special person, and I cannot believe this will be my last Dance Marathon with her.
On March 25th, 2016 I will be standing on my feet for 24 consecutive hours with over 1,000 of my fellow students and friends to support the children and families who benefit directly from the programs we raise money for! Please consider helping me to reach my goal of $3000 for the kids!
