Reach Out and Read

*If you are interested in volunteering at these programs, you must first register with DMUM. If you are unsure who to register as, please see our Get Involved page.*

Reach Out and Read (ROR) encourages language-rich activities with young children, integrates reading into pediatric practices, offers books that promote healthy brain development and language acquisition, and helps families build meaningful bonds through shared reading. Prior evidence has found that children served by ROR enter school with stronger language skills and healthier social-emotional development. Equally important is that ROR fosters healthy relationships between caregivers and children, which can act as a buffer against adversity.
